Naperville Civil Union Attorneys

Illinois Civil Union Attorney

Civil unions between same-sex couples and non-traditional, heterosexual couples are legal in the State of Illinois. The Illinois Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act, which went into effect on June 1, 2011, grants those who enter into a civil union many of the same legal protections enjoyed by married couples. In recent news, however, same-sex marriage was also recognized by the State of Illinois on November 20, 2013 (signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn) and took effect on June 1, 2014.

Just as some marriages end in divorce, however, some civil unions may also come to an end. Civil union dissolutions are very similar to marriage dissolutions. At the Roscich & Martel Law Firm, LLC Law Office, our experienced family law attorneys are skilled in guiding same-sex and heterosexual couples through the process of civil union dissolution.

Our attorneys always seek to resolve these matters as amicably as possible in order to save our clients valuable time and expense. We also understand that an amicable parting is in the best interest of children involved and helps preserve the long-term harmony of the family.
